Aphrodite is the Mother of Motherhood

Aphrodite is the beloved goddess of love, beauty and fertility. She transforms her appearance through the ages but she doesn’t change. Aphrodite is the mother of motherhood, the alpha and omega of creation. She is Venus as well as Maria. She comforts the hearts of mortal sons and daughters. Yesterday she did, tomorrow she will and in this very moment she does.

The Muse is Aphrodite’s messenger on earth. She lives in the heart of the artist and she shapes his unique creations. The artists of all times keep Aphrodite alive with their personal Muses as their guides. The artist is mortal but his creations are cosmic and immortal……Art comforts.

Antiquity Now on Cyprus

Ages ago Aphrodite came ashore on Cyprus and her emergency from the sea has never been forgotten since. Cyprus still is and always will be the island of Aphrodite. The Dutch artist Peter Peereboom visited Cyprus on the first stage of his European Art Decade called “Athena and the Muse”. This project is a pilgrimage inspired by MediaOdilia, the artist’s personal 11th Muse. Together they where greeting Aphrodite by spreading the coloured images of MediaOdilia over two sacred locations and archaeological sites on Cyprus. These two ancient sites where the amphitheatre at Kato Paphos and the Temple of Aphrodite in Kouklia.

Mosaics and Projections

The Cypriote Department of Antiquities of the Ministry of Communication and Works and the Municipality of Paphos fosters miracles and where making the 5-day visit with unique greeting sessions possible.

Fifty children of Paphos public schools created the mosaic. Other highlights where impressive on-site High Definition projections followed by a three-day Photo-exhibition on the sacred grounds at Palea Paphos and at Kouklia. These events around the Muse where held in September 2010.
